Veteran Economic Developer Joins Temple Economic Development Corporation Team

Veteran economic development executive Scott Connell of the Dallas-Fort Worth region joined the Temple Economic Development Corporation (Temple EDC) staff on December 10 as vice president.

Connell will work closely with the Temple EDC President, Adrian Cannady, to expand the city’s economic development efforts and will lead the business recruitment endeavors. “I’m very pleased to add someone with Scott’s experience and track-record to our team,” said Cannady. “His successes in guiding economic development recruitments make him the ideal person to lead our business attraction effort. We look forward to leveraging his commitment and experience to forge greater business and employment opportunities in Temple and throughout the Central Texas Region.”

Scott spent the past three decades in the economic development industry, helping communities in Texas and North Carolina recruit and retain companies through innovative and aggressive strategies. Most recently Connell led the economic development staff at the City of Fort Worth and previously served in various economic development leadership roles in Texas at Irving, Sherman, Waco, Belton, Victoria and Yoakum. Scott has been instrumental in assisting companies to invest more than $4 billion and create 16,500 jobs in the communities he served. He earned a bachelor’s degree in economics from the University of Texas at Austin.

“I am excited about the opportunity to join the Temple EDC team and build upon the momentum the organization has achieved,” Connell said. “It is hard to find a community comparable to Temple’s potential and economic opportunity. I look forward to working with community partners to develop the needed steps for catalyzing further economic growth in the Temple area.”
