TEMPLE, Texas –The Killeen-Temple-Fort Hood MSA area is among the five best-performing metro areas in the nation for the second year in a row, according to the Milken Institute.The Milken Institute ranks the Temple area fifth on its list of best-performing large cities, down from first place last year.
The 2011 Milken Institute Best-Performing Cities Index ranks U.S. metropolitan areas by how well they are creating and sustaining jobs and economic growth. The components include job, wage and salary, and technology growth.“The Temple area ranked highest in five-year wages and salaries growth, this demonstrates the consistency of the region’s skilled workforce and pro-growth attitude.” Lee Peterson, president of the Temple Economic Development Corporation said. Other Texas cities in the top five of the Best-Performing Cities list included San Antonio at number one, El Paso at number two and Austin-Round Rock at number four.
