Tax Abatement Approved for Bush’s Chicken Corporate Office in Temple

TEMPLE, TX— The Temple Economic Development Corporation (Temple EDC) today announced that the Temple City Council approved a real property tax abatement for Bush’s Chicken United, which plans to construct an 8,000-square-foot, new corporate office for the restaurant franchise in Central Texas. The new office will be built on a one and half-acre tract in the West Temple. The company’s projected $1 million capital investment will produce 20 new full-time jobs with growth projected to 50 employees.

“Our new corporate office will enable us to effectively and efficiently serve our franchises from a central location, said Bush’s Chicken United, President and COO, Corey Scott said. ” Temple’s central location, available skilled workforce and business friendly attitude were all factors in our decision.”

Construction is expected to break ground fall of 2015 with plans to move into the building mid-2016. Bush’s Chicken United operates 67 stores in the Bush’s franchise with the addition of 27 news stores opening in 2016 and a growth plan of 25 more establishments a year for the next five years.

“We welcome Bush’s Chicken United to Temple and are excited that they have chosen a location in West Temple for their growing franchise.” Temple EDC, President, David Blackburn said. “Corporate offices add to our quality of life as they create jobs at excellent wages and new opportunities for our residents.”
