When a job opportunity gave Tanner Johnson the chance to leave Dallas and move back to Temple, he jumped at it.
“At my last job, I saw 60 people come and go. Temple has the career advancement, job security, and long-term focus that showed me that this isn’t just temporary. This is long lasting and worth the investment into my career and community.”
The short commute to work and quick access to major highways and airports allow him to spend his saved time with his wife and daughters. His family can easily enjoy concerts and visit friends in neighboring cities without having to leave Central Texas. He is proud to live and work in a place that has a stable economy, growing population and dedicated economic development efforts that continuously prioritize the success of Temple businesses.
“The businesses that the Temple Economic Development Corporation brings in are Fortune 500 companies. They bring hundreds of millions of dollars’ worth of investment. When those jobs come here, they bring high quality pay which in turn brings more money to our community. This helps our education and city. For me, this was an eye opener. What I thought didn’t exist in Temple, did. There are opportunities here.”
One of the aspects that he cherishes the most is the tight knit community that is unique to the region.
“We know every one of our neighbors by name. There is a community and safety aspect that comes from knowing individuals and them knowing your family that led to deciding that Temple is where we need to be.”
You can easily spot Tanner utilizing Temple’s many outdoor amenities like Wildflower Country Club’s golf course or playing at the countless scenic parks with his daughters.
“Temple was an opportunity to raise a family, create a home and have a career. Those were all the things I was missing.”
