Let’s face it: 2020 has been one scary year. With an unprecedented pandemic, holidays, observances, and celebrations look a little different than usual. But that doesn’t mean we can’t have Halloween! The Bell County Public Health District opted not to cancel trick-or-treating, but does recommend individuals continue wearing protective masks and practice social distancing. There are lots of easy, fun ways to incorporate frights into your Saturday night this year. Here are a few suggestions from the Meet Temple team:
• Set the scene. Few things hold a candle to the fun you’ll have creating a spooktacular dwelling! Your neighbors and passersby will love seeing your decorations, too. If you haven’t gotten your décor out, Spirit Halloween and Party City in Temple have you covered with same day delivery and curbside pickup options for your added safety. The Robinson Family Farm pumpkin patch also has gourds ripe for picking on All Hallows’ Eve!
• Have a costume contest! Dressing up is always fun, whether you do it in the comfort of your home or share online. Go ahead – get decked out in your Halloween finest and be sure to take lots of pictures. Tag #MeetTemple in your funniest, cutest, and even scariest attire!
• Host a virtual Halloween party. Being apart is the new way to spend time together! Don your costumes for friends and family via video chat, and even consider a scary movie marathon virtual watch party.
• Create a candy chute. While the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommends people avoid traditional trick-or-treating, one-way options for candy delivery abound in 2020 with moderate-to-low risk. Check out these candy delivery methods for a little Halloween-spiration!
If traditional trick-or-treating is more your style, remember to follow CDC guidelines wherever possible. Whatever you decide to do, we wish you a safe, happy, but ultimately very spooky Halloween!
