Cost Of Living In Temple Is One Of The Lowest In The U.S., According To Report

TEMPLE, Texas— The Temple Economic Development Corporation (Temple EDC) today announced that Temple ranked 12th nationally in the 2013 Cost of Living Annual Review recently released by The Council for Community and Economic Research (C2ER.) The cost of living index for Temple was 87.1, compared to the national average of 100 for 308 urban areas evaluated by C2ER.
“We know that Texas is a business friendly state with a strong economy, and we know that Texas is a much more affordable place to work and live than California, New York and most other states,” Temple EDC Vice President Charley Ayres said. “This annual cost of living review shows us that Temple is the most affordable place to locate your business and your home in all of Central Texas.”

Temple is located on IH-35 north of Austin within 200 miles of 19 million residents living in the “Texas Triangle”—the area including and between Dallas, Austin and San Antonio. Temple features direct interstate access, rail, regional and international airport access, and multiple shovel-ready commercial and industrial development sites. The Temple EDC has the resources available to offer incentives to the right businesses looking to relocate or expand in the area.

The Temple EDC conducts quarterly surveys of the costs of the same products in the C2ER quarterly reports. This enables the organization to accurately promote the low cost of living in Temple.

C2ER publishes an unweighted average of data accumulated from the previous three pricing periods. The data presented represent average prices submitted for the first three quarters of 2013. For further details on the annual average methodology, please visit www.coli.org/Method.
