Dominic Lucia

Dominic Lucia

Initially brought to Temple as part of his medical education journey, Dominic Lucia has proudly called this city his home for over 10 years.

You can easily spot Dominic around the halls of McLane Children’s Hospital by his brightly colored superhero shirts. He notes how these shirts have become part of his medical uniform because the familiar characters instantly excite his patients and quell some of their nerves. Dominic’s love of superheroes paired with his career in pediatric medicine has earned him the title McLane’s Own Superhero.

“My true north is helping kids. I’m proud to be here, helping kids have the very best chance to survive and thrive.”

As the Chief Medical Officer at McLane Children’s, Dominic truly gets to be a superhero to the children he cares for everyday.

One of Dominic’s favorite aspects is that patients’ parents and other visitors can drive directly up to the hospital, easily park, and walk inside all within 20 seconds. The ease of access and convenient location are just some examples of the great healthcare and medical facilities available in Temple.

Beyond Temple being a fantastic location for his career, the city’s warm community and vibrant culture captivated the hearts of Dominic and his wife Marissa early on. They first fell in love with the city in 2006 while Dominic was completing his residency at Baylor Scott & White, so when they got the opportunity to move back in 2011, they jumped at it. Temple’s blend of small town closeness and big city amenities made it the ideal place to start a family.

When he is not caring for pediatric patients, Dominic spends time with his wife and their five children enjoying lots of outdoor recreational activities.
