Economic development is practiced at the highest level when a number of organizations come together to further the economy of a region. There are many strategies that a community can implement when attempting to achieve growth in an economy. Governments such as the State of Texas, Bell County, and the City of Temple play the critical role of providing road, water, and sewer infrastructure. They also provide services that enhance the quality of place so that our community is a pleasant and safe place to live.
Institutions such as the Temple College, University of Mary-Hardin Baylor, and our local independent school districts train, educate, and motivate our next generation of workers and citizens that will contribute to our local economy. Still, there are many more entities — both private and public — that play an important role in helping us reach our economic objectives.

That said, the overwhelming majority of communities in the United States still rely on the creation of new primary jobs and related investment to spur significant growth in a community. A job that pays a living wage that can offer purchasing power to its citizens and a private investment that will pay significant taxes to local government bodies will provide the necessary revenue to keep an economy moving in a positive direction.
At the Temple Economic Development Corporation, it’s our duty to show prospective developers across the country and the world how promising Temple and its resources are. The Temple EDC team’s efforts to service the community in this way has grown over the last quarter of this past year. The Temple region has already enjoyed a trajectory of success in recent years, so it is our team’s goal to build upon the robust foundation already set in place by our predecessors.
