TEMPLE, Texas—The Temple Economic Development Corporation (Temple EDC) today announced a new 168-acre industrial distribution development, The Railhead of Central Pointe, to be located in the Temple EDC’s Rail Park at Central Pointe.
The Temple EDC worked with Stone Construction, Transwestern and Temple/Central Texas Railroad to launch the project; Stone Construction and Transwestern are co-developers.
Temple has more than 8 miles of rail and a short-rail service, Patriot Rail. The Rail Park features a service-oriented, personally managed rail line that serves the businesses located in the rail park. With exclusive service to the Temple Rail Park, Patriot Rail is able to ensure that businesses stay on schedule with distribution and can manage delivery expectations, simplify operations, and manage budgets more easily.
“The Railhead of Central Pointe development gives us the ability to locate logistics and distribution companies in a very short period of time,” said Charley Ayres, Temple EDC director of business development. “Temple simplifies a large corporation’s search process because we are ready today.”
Various options are available for small and large users needing broad distribution of large machinery, sizable products or bulk products that must be moved by rail.

Phase I of the development, with recently completed rail spurs, is 68 acres. A 100-acre phase II is anticipated based on demand.
Several large, national distribution corporations are already based in Temple, including: Wal-Mart and H-E-B, each with 2 million-square-foot warehouse and distribution centers; Wilsonart International, Inc.; McLane; Mars Petcare U.S., Inc.; and Liquid Nails.
The Rail Park in Temple is served by the BNSF Railway, a Class I national railroad.
